NBA playoffs 2017: Schedule, scores, bracket, and more

The 2017 NBA playoffs are here, after a rather amazingand record-breaking — regular season. While the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites to meet again in the NBA Finals — which would be the first time in league history two teams met in three straight Finals — both have faced obstacles this season.

The Warriors won a league-best 67 games, the first team in NBA history to win at least 65 games in three straight seasons. They finished the season quite strong, with 15 wins in their last 16 games, but also lost Kevin Durant for five weeks with a knee injury and will have to acclimate him back in after playing just the final three regular season games as a tuneup.

Cleveland was cruising until midseason, and finished the year just 23-23 in their final 46 games, including four straight losses to give away the No. 1 seed to the Boston Celtics. LeBron James, who somehow quietly averaged 26.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.7 assists, is trying to make the NBA Finals for a seventh consecutive season.

In the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs had another typically excellent season with 61 wins, trying to make the NBA Finals for the first time in three years. The Houston Rockets were an offensive juggernaut, making an NBA-record 1,181 three-pointers this year, and had the third-best record in the NBA with 55 wins. Houston was led by a resurgent James Harden, who will face off with fellow MVP candidate Russell Westbrook — the first man to average a triple-double in 55 years — and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
